About Kindred
What is Kindred?
Kindred is a 24/7 parenting coach that learns your child's specific challenges, personality, and history — then gives you personalized guidance grounded in child development science. Think of it as having a knowledgeable coach in your pocket who actually knows your kid.
Is Kindred a therapy app?
No. Kindred is a parenting support and coaching tool, not a therapy or mental health service. The guidance it provides is educational and informational, grounded in child development research. If you have concerns about your child's mental health, always consult a qualified professional. Kindred is designed to complement — not replace — professional care.
Does Kindred offer medical advice or diagnose conditions?
No. Kindred does not provide medical advice, diagnose any condition, or recommend treatments. Nothing in the app should be interpreted as medical or clinical guidance. If you are concerned that your child may have a developmental, behavioral, or medical condition — such as ADHD, autism, anxiety disorder, or anything else — please consult a licensed healthcare professional. Kindred can help you understand your child's behavior and support your day-to-day parenting, but it is not a substitute for professional evaluation or care.
How is Kindred different from Googling parenting advice?
Generic parenting advice is written for an average child in an average situation. Kindred knows your child — their age, temperament, specific challenges, and what you've already tried. Every piece of guidance it gives is shaped by that context, so you get answers for your actual kid, not a hypothetical one.
What ages does Kindred support?
Kindred is built for parents of children of all ages, from toddlers through teenagers. The coaching is tailored to your child's specific developmental stage, so the guidance you get for a 3-year-old looks very different from what you'd get for a 12-year-old.
Is Kindred available on Android?
Currently Kindred is available on iOS only. Android support is something we're exploring — if you'd like to be notified when it launches, email us at hello@meetkindred.app.
Using the App
How does Kindred personalize its guidance?
When you set up Kindred, you describe your child — their age, personality, and the challenges you're navigating. As you use the app, your journal entries, chat history, and growth area tracking all build a richer picture. The AI coach uses everything it knows about your child whenever you ask a question or need guidance, so responses get more accurate and useful over time.
Can I add more than one child?
Yes. You can add multiple children to your Kindred account, each with their own profile, growth areas, and coaching history. The AI coach knows which child you're talking about and keeps each child's context separate.
What is a Growth Area?
Growth Areas are the specific challenges you're working through with your child — things like emotional regulation, anxiety, defiance, sibling conflict, or sleep. Kindred tracks each growth area over time, maps patterns, and builds tailored strategies. As your child grows and things shift, you can add, update, or close growth areas.
What are Daily Bites?
Daily Bites are short, personalized child development insights delivered every day. They're not generic parenting tips — each card is tied to your child's specific challenges and pulls from child psychology research. The kind of thing that makes you think "I never knew that." Swipe through them to build your streak and deepen your understanding of your child a little bit each day.
What is co-parenting in Kindred?
Co-parenting lets you invite your partner to share access to your children's profiles in Kindred. Both of you can see the same growth areas, strategies, and journal entries — so you're using the same language and approach, even on different days. It keeps both parents aligned without having to brief each other every time.
What is the Journal for?
The Journal is a place to capture observations about your child — moments that stand out, things that worked, things that didn't. These notes feed into Kindred's understanding of your child, and they become a record you'll genuinely want to look back on as they grow.
Subscriptions and Billing
Is Kindred free?
Kindred is free to download. Some features require a Kindred Premium subscription. You can explore the app before subscribing to see if it's right for your family.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Apple. To cancel, go to your iPhone's Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Kindred → Cancel Subscription. You'll keep access to premium features until the end of your current billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund through Apple's standard process at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Privacy and Data
Is my children's information private?
Yes. The information you enter about your children is stored securely and used only to personalize your coaching experience. We do not sell your data or your children's data to anyone. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your information.
Does Kindred use AI? How does it work?
Yes — Kindred uses large language model AI to generate personalized coaching responses. When you chat with Kindred, your message along with relevant context about your child is sent to our AI provider to generate a response. We've designed the system prompts and knowledge base around child development research, so the guidance is grounded in science rather than general opinion.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account directly in the app: go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, all child profiles, growth areas, journal entries, and chat history. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
